CGC Video Games Grades Spectacular Mario Kart 64

The Nintendo 64 classic received a grade of CGC 9.8 A++ for its near-perfect condition and seal.

CGC Video Games® recently certified an incredible copy of Mario Kart 64 for the Nintendo 64 that received a grade of CGC 9.8 A++ for its near-perfect condition and superb seal. This is CGC Video Games' first game graded for the Nintendo 64, and it will be offered for sale by Heritage Auctions in their January Video Games Signature Auction on January 19-21, 2023.

Nintendo released Mario Kart 64 in North America in February 1997. The game immediately became a pop culture sensation and went on to become the second-best-selling title for the Nintendo 64. Players and critics alike applauded the game’s mechanics and tracks, while its multiplayer modes have influenced modern video games’ development. Mario Kart 64’s success and popularity encouraged Nintendo to produce many sequels for subsequent consoles.

Although Mario Kart 64 was one of the best-selling games for the Nintendo 64, it remains especially hard to find sealed.

About the variant

Mario Kart 64 has several production variants. This one is the Made in Japan, USA variant and is understood to be an earlier production run of Mario Kart 64. Any copy of this game sealed or complete-in-box is highly desired by collectors, with this example being one of the more exceptional that CGC Video Games has certified.

Made in Japan

“Made in Japan” specifies the game’s country of production. Most Nintendo 64 games were manufactured in Japan, with the phrase “Made in Japan” printed on the back of the box and on the back label of the cartridge.

USA

“USA” refers to the game’s USA code. Nintendo 64 games that were produced for the United States market received a USA code, which is often printed on each of the game’s components. These may be found on the inside flaps of the box, the front label of the cartridge, the cover of the manual, and on most inserts.
