Heritage Offers Complete in Box Games Certified by CGC Video Games
More than 45 complete in box video games certified by CGC Video Games™ are being offered in an upcoming Heritage Auctions sale. Online bidding is already underway for the Complete in Box Video Games Showcase Auction, which is set to end on August 10, 2023.
Leading the CGC-certified video games in the sale is a complete in box Turok for the Nintendo 64 (1997) graded CGC 9.4, with CIB grades of 9.4 for Box and Manual, and 9.6 for Cartridge (lot 79158). The game is based off a comic series of the same name. Players control Turok, a Native American warrior, in his quest to save the world from the evil Campaigner. Turok was one of the most popular games for the Nintendo 64 upon release, and its success spawned a video game franchise including a sequel, prequel and several remastered versions of the original release.
Also featured in the sale is a complete in box Contra for the Nintendo Entertainment System (1988) graded CGC 8.5, with CIB grades of 8.0 for Box and Cartridge, and 9.0 for Manual (lot 79016). Contra was originally an arcade game that was ported to the NES, where it became truly recognized and beloved in the gaming community. Difficult gameplay and a well-received two-player simultaneous mode kept players coming back to the game well after release. Contra is also responsible for popularizing the Konami Code, which was introduced in Gradius.
