CGC-certified Video Games Highlight Heritage Signature Auction

A sealed Super Mario World graded CGC 9.4 A and a sealed Poop Slinger graded CGC 9.6 A+ are two rarities to watch.

A Super Mario World certified by CGC Video Games™ is making waves in an ongoing Heritage sale, with bidding already exceeding $25,000. The best-selling SNES game is among dozens of CGC-certified video games available in Heritage Auction’s April 20-22 Video Games Signature Auction, which is set to end on April 22, 2022.

The sealed Super Mario World for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (1992) is graded CGC 9.4 A (lot 28099). Super Mario World was the first Mario title for the Super Nintendo. Using the system’s improved technology, the game was able to wow audiences with improved graphics, an improved and lengthened soundtrack and the introduction of fan-favorite character Yoshi. Credited with popularizing the SNES, Super Mario World won several awards and holds the honor of being the best-selling game of its generation.

Also featured in the auction is a Tecmo Bowl for the Nintendo Entertainment System (1989) graded CGC 9.6 A+ (lot 28069). Tecmo Bowl was the first console-based video game released on console to feature football players from the NFL. Players of the game were able to team up with their favorite NFL players from the time period — including the likes of Joe Montana and Walter Payton — to duke it out on the field against 13 fictional teams. This variant of the NES release is extremely rare, and it is one of the finest-graded examples of its kind. To learn more about it, watch the video below.

Another highlight in the auction is Poop Slinger for the PlayStation 4 (2019) graded CGC 9.6 A+ (lot 28339). This is the only copy of Poop Slinger certified by CGC Video Games and only the second copy to be offered by Heritage Auctions. Only 84 copies of the game were ever sold.
