CGC-certified Nintendo Rarities Being Offered in Heritage Sale

A sealed Secret of Mana for the Super Nintendo certified by CGC has eclipsed five figures in an ongoing Heritage Auctions sale. It is just one of the many CGC-certified video games in Heritage’s Video Games Signature Auction, which is set to end on February 21-22. 2025.
The sealed Secret of Mana for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (1993) is graded CGC 9.8 A+ (lot 28044). Secret of Mana was one of the first Japanese role-playing game titles to break away from turn-based combat, instead featuring real-time battles with a power bar mechanic. In addition to adopting new combat mechanics, Secret of Mana was also the first game in the Mana series to be marketed as its own standalone franchise, which ended up being pivotal to SquareSoft’s growth as a company. Bidding for this CGC-certified example had already surpassed $10,000 days before the sale ends.

Also featured in the sale is a sealed employee store copy of The Legend of Zelda for the Nintendo Entertainment System (1988) graded CGC 9.2 A+ (lot 28013). In the past, before a game’s official release, Nintendo would send retailers a demo copy of the game to use as advertising material. These games would perpetually run in store-sanctioned consoles until the game’s release. A sealed copy of one of these employee store copy games is extremely rare to come by, since most were opened and used for these advertising purposes.
