CGC-certified CIB Legend of Zelda Offered in Heritage Sale

Heritage Auctions' sale of Nintendo games on September 12 includes classics such as Wrecking Crew, Castlevania, A Boy and His Blob and more.

Level up your collection of classic video games certified by CGC Video Games, including some with a Dallas-Fort Worth pedigree, now available in Heritage Auctions’ Nintendo 8 to 64-Bit Video Games Showcase Auction, which is scheduled for September 12, 2024.

Among the highlights of this auction is a complete in box First Production Legend of Zelda for the Nintendo Entertainment System graded CGC 8.5 (lot 79015). Another complete in box mid-production example, graded CGC 9.2 (lot 79016), is also available in this auction. As one of the earliest open-world games, The Legend of Zelda introduced players to innovative gameplay and captivating storytelling, helping establish Nintendo as a dominant force in the gaming industry. Players control Link, a young hero on a quest to rescue Princess Zelda and defeat the evil Ganon in the world of Hyrule. Equipped with iconic items like the Master Sword, boomerang and bombs, Link must solve puzzles and defeat bosses to obtain pieces of the Triforce.

In August, a sealed First Production copy of The Legend of Zelda graded by CGC Video Games realized an impressive $375,000 in a Heritage Auctions sale, becoming the highest-selling CGC-certified video game sold at auction.

Also offered in this sale is sealed A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia for the Nintendo Entertainment System graded CGC 9.6 (lot 79004). In the game, players guide a young boy and his blob companion, who can transform into various tools and objects by eating different flavored jellybeans, through puzzle-filled levels to save Blob’s home planet. Although it was considered challenging and unconventional at the time, the game’s creative, puzzle-solving mechanics and charming storyline earned it a fan following.
